ASHTABULA COUNTY CANDIDATES
THE BIG LIES IN THE TV ADS ABOUT ISSUE 1.
They say abortion is illegal in Ohio: Abortion in Ohio is currently legal up to 5 months (20 weeks). Even pro-choice voters are coming out and saying abortions after 5 months goes too far and to vote no on issue 1.
They say if a minor gets preganant that they can’t get an abortion: NOT TRUE
To hear an honest discussion to help you understand the issue better watch the video below. The 30-second ads are not giving you the full picture on such are large issue about the Constitutional amendment that is Issue 1.
If issue one passes it will be in the Ohio Constitution FOREVER and no elected official or judge will be able to change it, plus it also eliminates safeguards put in place to protect children and women’s healthcare.
Many supporters of Issue 1 will lie and say that abortions up until birth don't happen. We know this isn't true though and that if Issue 1 passes Ohio is at risk for allow partial-birth abortions in our great state.
The pro-choice editorial board of the Toledo Blade says Issue 1 goes too far for Ohioans. They are urging voters to vote No on Issue 1. Some quotes from the article: “With just one doctor’s say-so, this amendment would allow late-term elective abortions of nearly fully grown unborn babies, something Ohioans should not be willing to stomach as a constitutional right.” “That’s a judgment that should be made through the legislative process, not through the unsubtle and permanent impact of amending the state constitution.” “The Blade has always supported women’s right to an abortion. This amendment to the state constitution goes too far and should be defeated.” Read the article: https://www.toledoblade.com/opinion/editorials/2023/10/22/editorial-issue-1-overreach/stories/20231022028
