Statement on Charlie Kirk:
Charlie Kirk was the victim of a political assassination at a Utah college campus yesterday. Outside of a few deranged individuals, we all are saddened for this young man's family. Pray for his wife and his young children who will now grow up without a father. Charlie Kirk loved to debate ideas and he took his ability to debate to the college campuses to challenge those institutions to a free exchange of ideas and to teach kids about critical thinking - something that the left has all but destroyed in the institutions of higher learning. For those ignorant enough to say he spoke hate and had it coming to him, take a long look in the mirror. You are the problem in our nation. Your soul is lost. Yesterday, after realizing Charlie Kirk was shot, members of Congress called for a moment of silence for him and his family only to have Democrat members scream objections to a prayer. How disgusting. Tolerance from this new-age Democratic Party is nowhere to be found unless it meets the Democrat narrative. Charlie Kirk was a threat to the far left. This is the same far left who had decided decades ago to take control of institutions of higher learning to indoctrinate our children to follow their beliefs. For this fact alone, a violent individual decided to end Kirk's life to stop him from saving a generation of young Americans from the cancer of Democratic Party group think.
Our country is not well. I am growing tired of tap dancing around the real issue we are faced with as a nation. Today's version of the Democratic Party is a collection of gaslighting, hate-filled people whose language, especially over the last decade, has done nothing but dehumanize those who do not agree with their secular world views. This language has radicalized the worst in their party to violence. Political violence has been heavily one-sided with the left attacking the right. Words have power. When their leaders call their opponents "Hitler" and "fascists," it is a call to violent action. Sure, today these Democrat leaders will denounce violence but in a couple days, they will right back at brainwashing people to hate and commit violence. We saw this same rhetoric days after the assassination attempt of Candidate Donald Trump a little over a year ago.
I do not know the answer to this problem our nation faces. I cannot give you a solution to overcoming the evil that plagues our society. It is real and affects us all. I do know this - The two major parties that drive our nation have no common ground. We cannot even agree on what the definition of what a man or a woman is, for God's sake. Our government's most primary function should be protecting its citizens. The Democrats can't even come to agreement with us on this critical issue.
We, as Republicans, must not give in to this intimidation. We must stay the course and change hearts and minds through conversation - not through hate speech, lunatic manifestos, and high-powered rifles. We must not allow this cancer to take away our freedoms just because they weaponize our rights against us. I will not be intimidated. I love this country and I haven't spent the last 20 years of my life working for a better America just to give in to evil. Stay the course and pray that our country and its people can overcome it. Pray that the rational people in the Democratic Party stand up and demand a civil tone.
